Welcome

Who is Jerry W. Beare, Sr.? Ask him and he will respond, “Just a man.” But Mr. Beare rises far above that simple reply. Despite a string of credentials that anyone would be proud to claim, he is surprisingly humble. Jerry’s journey began with volunteer service in Central America. At an early age, he learned that service to humanity would become his life’s work. Thus, he turned his studies toward psychotherapy and counseling and achieved a graduate degree from North Texas State University.

The road he followed includes juvenile and adult probation officer, administrator of a boy’s ranch, youth shelter director, social service director of a bilingual health clinic in the West Dallas barrio, primary therapist at La Hacienda Treatment Center in Hunt Texas, and primary therapist at Lakewood General Hospital in East Dallas. In addition, the Oklahoma Senate cited him for his contributions to the state in the area of substance abuse programs and the establishment of a resource library on drugs and alcohol that became a model for the state. His understanding of today’s sex offender and the pitfalls we in the community must address is timely, astonishingly informative, and uncommonly insightful. Jerry’s service in private practice spans more than twenty years.

In his new book, Parenting: A View from the Therapist's Chair, Jerry outlines a plan to help families in turmoil. Delivered with wit and humor, he shares his philosophy and love of life. Most of all, the reader will sense a genuine connection that comes from his desire to help others find happiness, know joy, and fulfill their dreams.
